Grandma’s Presto-Pasta

Quick and easy to make, this has been a long-time family favorite!

Servings: 4
Time: 1 hour
1 pound of pasta
1 28 oz. can of Marzano or Hunts tomatoes
1 medium yellow onion, peeled and cut in half
5 tablespoons of good quality butter
1 tbs. extra virgin olive oil
2-3 cloves of chopped garlic
¼ teaspoon of sugar
Salt, basil, oregano to taste

  1.  Sauté the garlic in olive oil until browned.
  2. Add tomatoes, butter, onion, sugar, and a pinch of salt. (Also add the oregano if you’re using it.)
  3. Simmer uncovered over medium heat for about 40 minutes (longer if you have time). Stir occasionally and break up the tomatoes as you stir.
  4. Discard the onion. Add basil.
  5. Serve over pasta.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Mangia!
