Description
Text Evidence Expository Essay Writing
This step-by-step writing unit includes everything you need to teach your students how to write an expository essay requiring text evidence. Better yet, the body paragraph model can be used independently to write short response answers.
Many teachers have been requesting that I create a resource based on my text evidence resource for grades 6-8, but with a reading selection geared toward grades 4-5. Therefore, this has the same step-by-step approach as the 6-8 version, with a fun, fractured fairy tale literary response example. However, it is not just suitable for writing a literary response essay; the method can be used for writing in all content areas.
Visuals, graphic organizers, and useful teaching tips make this unit a pleasure to use. Suggestions for differentiation are also included, so you can tailor it to suit the needs of your individual students. The method is easy to use, enjoyable to teach, and most importantly, it is teacher-tested!
The unit includes the following:
~ visuals to post on bulletin boards
~ step-by-step instructions on how to write the introduction, body
